Poetry Potluck Wednesday

My ears listen keenly,
To hear the Autumn wind.
To feel air crisp with Winter chill,
Goose pimple up my skin.
To stand among the brilliance
Of trees in fiery dress.
The last, great, golden dance of leaves,
Drift to eternal rest.

Word of the Day: loam. (noun) a rich soil composed of clay, sand and some organic matter.

  1. Beautiful. I have always liked the word "goose pimple". I can really feel the chilly fall air.

  2. A welcome breath of cool fall air in summer!

    (I'm such a sucker for Autumn-themed pieces!)

  3. I love Autumn! It is a time filled with crisp air, brilliant color and I love to be surrounded by trees in some place cool. In Arizona, it is hard to tell its Fall. The slant of light and shadow is a subtle tell; however, temperatures are still in the 100's until mid-October.

  4. After this hottest of summers, fall will indeed be welcomed. I feel cooler already, just thinking about it. Very nice poem. Well done!

  5. Oh, I want to be in that right now! (sigh)

  6. impressed, wow.

    you blow me away.

    Happy Potluck!

  7. Hurrah! Someone else paying tribute to Autumn. I'm very much a winter sun seeker....
